Group Launch in March 2009
Someone
you know, perhaps yourself, has an unmet
promise of becoming a great, prolific
writer.
It lives in you like a dream, at times
cinematic and lucid, at times faint like
the din of a faraway train.
Do you love the cadence, the voluptuousness,
the defiance and spit of words? Will you
join us in creating a writers’ group?
It’ll exist solely for advancing
the practice and poetics of your writing.
It’ll demand tenacity, vision, and
above all, a devotion toward becoming
a serious writer.
We’ll
write. We’ll meet weekly. We’ll
give honest, constructive feedback on
each other’s works. |
It’ll
be one of the best things we’ve
done for ourselves. At the end, we’ll
have bred and fed that rarest of creatures--a
plane of consistency, toward a practice
we really love and care about.
When
Artnation, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated
to the creative act, came to be, it was
with the hope of generating momentum for
aspiring and practicing artists to realize
their potential. We hope you'll join us
in making writing and literature a core
tenet of your life, and support a community
aspiring toward the same goal.
